Golmaal 5 to Be a Fantasy Comedy; Sharman Joshi Returns, Female Actor to Play the Villain

Mumbai: Director Rohit Shetty is gearing up for the fifth installment of his hugely popular comedy franchise Golmaal, and fresh updates about Golmaal 5 have sparked excitement among fans. According to sources close to the development, the upcoming film will explore the genre of fantasy comedy and will feature a female antagonist, a first for the franchise.

The Golmaal series, known for its slapstick humor and chaotic storytelling, revolves around a group of mischievous and carefree friends who repeatedly find themselves in absurd situations. The core cast—Ajay Devgn (Gopal), Arshad Warsi (Madhav), Tushar Kapoor (Lucky), and Shreyas Talpade (Laxman)—will once again reunite to deliver their trademark comedy.

Sharman Joshi Makes a Comeback

In a major highlight, Sharman Joshi, who was part of the original Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), is set to return to the franchise after a long gap. An insider told news agency PTI Bhasha that all the main male actors have been finalized, including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tushar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, and now Sharman Joshi.

The film will also feature popular supporting actors such as Johnny Lever, Ashwini Kalsekar, Mukesh Tiwari, Sanjay Mishra, and others, adding to the ensemble’s comic strength.

A Female Villain Takes Center Stage

The source further revealed that the makers are still in talks to finalize the lead actress opposite Ajay Devgn. Additionally, two crucial roles are yet to be cast—one being the main villain and the other a quirky gangster-like character. Interestingly, the story has been written in a way that the negative role will be portrayed by a woman, bringing a fresh twist to the franchise.

Launched in 2006 with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, the franchise has enjoyed consistent box-office success. The films have collected:
