Bihar Election Results 2025: Kapil Mishra Targets Rahul Gandhi After Congress Faces Crushing Defeat

New Delhi: Following the decisive defeat of the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) in the Bihar Assembly elections, political attacks on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have intensified. BJP leader and Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra took to social media to target Gandhi, criticizing his high-profile campaigning efforts.

Kapil Mishra’s Remark:
On the platform X (formerly Twitter), Mishra wrote: “Those who staged a spectacle by jumping into the pond have been drowned by public mandate. The people have chosen the power of development over theatrics.”

He was referring to Rahul Gandhi’s campaign in Begusarai, where the Congress leader had jumped into a pond alongside local fishermen and Development Party leader Mukesh Sahni to promote the party’s candidate. Despite the publicity, Congress candidate Amita Bhushan lost by a margin of over 30,000 votes. The BJP’s Kundan Kumar won the seat with 119,506 votes, while Bhushan secured 88,874 votes. The Jan Suraj Party candidate, Surendra Kumar Sahni, finished third with 7,773 votes.

Congress’ Overall Performance in Bihar:
The Mahagathbandhan secured only 34 seats, while Congress won merely six, a far cry from pre-election expectations. The RJD managed 25 seats, CPI(M) won two, and the CPI secured one. This election underlines the significant shift in voter preference toward the NDA’s development agenda, marking a major setback for Congress and the opposition alliance in Bihar.
