Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh: A young aspirant aiming to become a doctor in Ghaziabad has fallen victim to a major scam, losing ₹51.5 lakh in a fraudulent scheme promising medical college admission under the management quota. Police have registered an FIR against four accused and launched a probe.
How the Scam Unfolded
According to the victim, Lakshmikant Parashar, a familiar property dealer, Naveen Sharma, claimed to have strong connections with college administrations and introduced him to a syndicate that promised guaranteed medical admission. The accused—Santosh Singh, Atul Singh, and Shivkumar Singh—allegedly assured Lakshmikant that they could secure admission in any top medical college through the management quota.
Money Paid in Installments
Lured by these promises, Lakshmikant handed over a total of ₹51.5 lakh in multiple installments, including ₹46.5 lakh in cash and ₹5 lakh via bank transfer. He reportedly borrowed money at high interest rates from friends and even sold family jewelry to fund his dream of becoming a doctor.
Realization of the Fraud
When the admission deadlines passed and the accused went out of contact, Lakshmikant realized he had been duped.
Police Action
ACP Indirapuram, Abhishek Shrivastava, confirmed that a named FIR has been registered against Naveen Sharma and the other three accused. Police are collecting evidence through bank transaction records and call data, with arrests expected soon.
