
Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh: Panic erupted at Lions Public School, Sandila, when a sudden gas leak in the school’s practical lab caused over 20 students to fall ill. The children exhibited symptoms including coughing, vomiting, and dizziness, prompting immediate medical attention and hospital admissions.
Incident Details
The gas leak occurred around 10 a.m. on Thursday, disrupting classes and creating chaos in the school. Reports suggest that a student may have disposed of a lab chemical in the toilet, inadvertently causing the formation of hazardous gas that spread across the school premises.
Teachers quickly evacuated the affected students and transported them to the Sandila Community Health Centre (CHC) via ambulance. The incident left the CHC overwhelmed, as a sudden influx of children required urgent medical care. Doctors and health staff provided primary treatment, while a few students were reported to be in serious condition.
Administrative Response
Local police and administrative officers arrived at the scene following reports of the incident. The SDM of Sandila confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the gas leak. Parents of the affected children have been informed, and treatment for all impacted students is continuing.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of safety protocols in school laboratories to prevent such hazardous incidents in the future.
