Jaipur: In an era where traffic violations have become routine and road safety rules are often ignored, a Jaipur Police sub-inspector has taken an extraordinary and inspiring step to awaken public conscience—especially among the youth.
Sub-Inspector Girvar Singh Shekhawat, currently posted at Ramnagariya Police Station under the Jaipur Commissionerate, has issued an open challenge that has now gone viral on social media. His message is clear and powerful:
“If anyone ever sees me riding a vehicle without a helmet or driving without a seat belt, I will give them my entire one month’s salary.”
This is not just a statement—it is a commitment backed by personal accountability.
A Unique Way to Promote Road Safety
As part of the ongoing Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Rajasthan, SI Shekhawat personally visits different localities, interacts with groups of young people, and educates them about traffic rules and safe driving practices. Instead of issuing warnings or fines, he motivates through example.
The task he gives is simple: “Keep an eye on me.”
Whether he steps out from his home, police station, or court, citizens are encouraged to observe him. If he is ever found violating helmet or seat belt rules, he promises to hand over his full monthly salary—over ₹70,000.
Public Applause and Viral Impact
The video of his challenge has received widespread appreciation online. Netizens are calling it a “model of ethical policing” and a “lesson in leadership through action.” Many youths have stated that the challenge has made them rethink their own driving habits.
“A Small Precaution Can Save a Life”
Speaking to the media, SI Shekhawat emphasized that road safety is not about fear of fines, but about valuing life.
“A small precaution can save not just your life, but your family from lifelong grief. For your loved ones, you are priceless,” he says.
A Soldier Turned Police Officer
Girvar Singh Shekhawat hails from Bagroda village near Fatehpur in Sikar district. A former Army serviceman, he served the nation from February 2000 to April 2017. He later joined Rajasthan Police as a Sub-Inspector through the Ex-Army quota in 2018.
Over the years, he has served at Kardhani, Bagru, Sadar, and now Ramnagariya Police Station in Jaipur.
A Message Beyond Uniform
A father of two—both preparing for competitive examinations—SI Shekhawat believes that discipline on the road reflects discipline in life. His wife, Krishna Kanwar, is a homemaker, and his son-in-law is also a Sub-Inspector in Jaipur Police.
Through his bold initiative, SI Girvar Singh Shekhawat has proven that true policing begins with self-discipline and moral courage. His challenge is not about money—it is about saving lives, setting standards, and leading by example.
