Light, Music, and Devotion Illuminate Red Fort Amid Delhi Blast Tensions

New Delhi: The historic Red Fort comes alive once again with a majestic celebration marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, offering Delhi residents and visitors a sense of peace amid recent tensions following the Delhi blast. The festivities began on Wednesday with a spectacular light and sound show, while the main events are scheduled from 23rd to 25th November.

Grand Festivities at Red Fort

According to the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), the Red Fort complex will host daily light and sound shows until 25th November. A special museum has been created within the fort to showcase Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life and sacrifices. The main program includes a mega Kirtan Darbar where devotional hymns will resonate throughout the venue.

The theme of the light and sound show focuses on the martyrdom and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The show will run every evening from 5 PM, free of cost for all devotees and visitors.

Security and Volunteer Deployment

Entry points along the main road feature strict security arrangements, with long queues of devotees forming. However, checks at car parking entries showed some lapses, as passing through metal detectors was not mandatory. In addition to government and administrative security, the Gurudwara Committee has deployed a large number of volunteers to assist attendees.

Tent City for Devotees

A vast tent city is being set up in the Red Fort grounds to accommodate visitors from across India. The arrangement includes:

  • 50,000 devotees can stay in tents simultaneously
  • Separate Langar tents capable of serving 20,000 devotees at a time

These arrangements ensure that the massive gathering is managed efficiently and comfortably.

Museum and Cultural Experience

The newly constructed museum is designed like a corridor, offering visitors an immersive experience of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life and the Sikh faith. Audio-visual displays and elaborate tableaux provide an opportunity to learn, observe, and connect deeply with the spiritual and historical significance of the events.

Event Highlights

  • 22 November: Special corridor from Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib to Red Fort cleaned; large participation from devotees
  • 23–25 November: Daily Kirtan Samagam
  • 25 November: Completion of 100,000 Sahaj Path recitations worldwide
  • 25 November: Grand Nagar Kirtan from Gurudwara Sis Ganj to Rakabganj

The Red Fort, once tense after the recent blast, now radiates light, music, and devotion, offering a serene and spiritually uplifting experience for all.
