PDA’s Victory Inevitable in Uttar Pradesh, BJP Loses 34 Million Voters: Akhilesh Yadav Attacks Yogi Government Over SIR

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has launched a sharp political offensive against the Yogi Adityanath government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Yadav claimed that the SIR process has exposed a massive decline in BJP’s voter base, decisively tilting the political balance in favour of the PDA alliance—Backward Classes, Dalits and Minorities.

Citing a recent statement by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Akhilesh Yadav said that nearly four crore voters failed to get their names included in the voter list during the SIR exercise. According to him, 85 to 90 percent of these excluded voters were BJP supporters. He asserted that this development would directly benefit the PDA social coalition and push the BJP into a weak position ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

BJP Failed to Manipulate Voter Lists: Akhilesh

Interpreting the Chief Minister’s remarks, Akhilesh Yadav drew several political conclusions. First, he said the vigilance of “PDA Praharis” (PDA watchdogs) ensured that the BJP could not manipulate the voter list as per its convenience during the SIR process. Their alertness, he claimed, prevented large-scale irregularities.

Secondly, Yadav argued that if 85–90 percent of the removed names belonged to BJP voters, it clearly indicates that those attempting to manipulate the voter list were themselves BJP supporters, whose names were struck off due to lack of valid documentation.

34 Million BJP Votes Wiped Out

Taking the argument further, Akhilesh Yadav said that even if the minimum figure of 85 percent is considered, nearly 3.4 crore (34 million) BJP voters have been excluded from the electoral rolls. He described this as a major electoral setback for the ruling party.

Linking this figure to the 403 Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav claimed that the BJP has effectively lost an average of around 84,000 votes per seat. He added that these were not legitimate voters, and their removal has fundamentally altered the electoral arithmetic of the state.

BJP Out of the Electoral Race, Claims SP Chief

Based on this calculation, Akhilesh Yadav asserted that the BJP is virtually out of the electoral race in the upcoming Assembly elections. He said the emerging numbers clearly represent the “mathematics of PDA’s victory.” According to him, the growing unity of the PDA bloc has not only unsettled the BJP but has also created anxiety among its direct and indirect allies, with visible repercussions on ticket distribution and internal party dynamics.

Questions Raised on Election Commission

The SP chief also questioned the role of the Election Commission, alleging that the SIR deadline was extended by two weeks only after it became evident that the ruling party was facing losses. However, he emphasized that PDA Praharis would now work with double vigilance to ensure complete transparency and prevent any irregularities.

Concluding his post on a symbolic note, Akhilesh Yadav wrote that every PDA Prahari would remind Election Commission officials:
“Wherever you go, my shadow will walk with you.”

The statement has intensified political discourse in Uttar Pradesh, with the SIR issue now emerging as a central theme in the run-up to the Assembly elections.
